Scottish genealogical research makes use of Statutory Records, Old Parish Registers, Censuses, Valuation Rolls, Wills, Kirk Session Minutes, Estate Records·and other archival documentary sources.
Pre-Statutory (i.e. pre-1855) genealogical research is a speciality, including accessing the records of the numerous Scottish Churches, many of which do not appear in the usual on-line resources. We have extensive experience of researching genealogy in the 17th and 18th centuries, and also of early Scottish and Scots-Irish migration to North America and Australia. We also research Scottish-European trading connections which involved many Scottish merchants, who left numerous descendants in the major northern European ports.
Services include the compilation of a full genealogical report,·with a family tree, and copies of any relevant documents as required.
Social and Local History research,·including histories of specific houses, farms, villages and even complete parishes can be compiled, and will include maps or plans, sasine records and valuation roll entries.
Bruce B Bishop also teaches some of the Scottish Genealogy Society Saturday Classes.
